Reinforced Link Arm, 2 pcs. (replaces part no. 14922) -- Dillon XL650 / XL750
- Order number: 09.100
Reinforced link arms for Dillon Precision XL650 / XL750 -- a set of 2 pcs. is supplied
1:1 replacement for original parts with the part no. 14922
... some background:
We have been using reloading presses from Dillon Precision for years and they deserve their excellent reputation for function and reliability. Dillon Precision offers a lifetime warranty for their products and does take this promise seriously ... HOWEVER ... for some time shipping costs which can be quite high are charged for the shipping of replacement parts from the US, the lead time including shipping is usually several weeks and, in the end, a spare part is supplied of the same quality as the original part but also with the same weak spots.
Consequently, we have decided to design and manufacture specific components, which have failed during use by us and shooting colleagues, in a reinforced version and offer these as a long lasting and readily available solution.
Advantages:
-
The link arms are machined from high-strength Alumninum and not executed as zinc die-cast parts. While the material properties are similar the machining from bar stock allows for a considerable reinforcement of critical areas which is not possible with cast parts for process related reasons. Thereby the component strength and its longevity is increased considerably.
- Hard-anodizing especially in the bores reduces friction and delays the onset of wear.
-
The link arms are supplied as a matched pair to be exchanged simultaneously.
- Either two spanners 7/8" or adjustable wrenches with a min. opening of 22,4mm are required.
- Remove the handle.
- Of the four lock nuts (2 pcs. each on the top and bottom) only two can be typically rmoved on the press. To remove second lock nut and the second link arm the link arm pins (part no. 13700) are pulled out of the press and can be clamped in a vise with protective Aluminium or plastic jaw covers (!!) for final disassembly.
- It is recommended to thoroughly clean all parts including the link arm pins and the bores to remove old grease and wear particles.
- Re-insert the link arm pins, grease the bores of the new link arms and the corresponding sections of the link arm pins, then attach the new link arms on both sides and re-install the lock nuts.
CAUTION: Tighten the lock nuts carefully and individually on each side - the link arms shall have a very small amount of lateral play all-around once the installation is finished to ensure smooth movement during operation. - Finally re-grease the link arm pins via the grease nipples with sufficient grease and re-install the handle.
- Regular maintenance including cleaning and lubrication of all moving parts is strongly recommended to keep the press well functioning for a long time and to minimize wear!
- Observe the press manufacturer's manual!
